To us it reminds of a somber memory when we were kids of the decades old Bud Billiken parade on the South Side celebrating it’s 94th year this year. That parade is happening today Aug 12th and it always signaled the beginning of the end of summer to us because school would inevitably start within a few weeks of the event. Funny how that memory lingers.
