We read this and smile. Fifty years ago we smoked a lot of pot but now that it is legal we go nowhere near it. Go figure. So we read this and celebrate our decision made decades ago not to partake. Our editor contracted throat cancer which may very well have been from the cigarettes he also smoked till his birthday on 11/14/1991 when he quit EVERYTHING.The cancer came on in 2008,years after he quit. Did we ever experience nuclear winter since the dawn of the First Industrial Revolution over 150 years ago ? Except for localized air pollution alerts that came and passed NOTHING GLOBAL. But as we gaze at our Lake Michigan we realize it is a melted glacier so THAT is climate change. And for the record the last global nuclear winter event happened in 1815-6 during the eruption of Indonesian volcano Tambora. It is recorded in history as the year without a summer. LOOK IT UP!!
