When one realizes the Pacific Rim is an interconnected series of tectonic plates that circle the perimeter of the massive Pacific Ocean and that stresses of this magnitude released in such a short time span directly in that perometer create OTHER stresses along the “chain”, it sends an ominous message that California could be the next “whipping boy”.
After the devastating quake in April of 1906 in San Francisco, geologists and vulcanologists have been waiting with bated breath for the NEXT ONE they know is coming.
Events like this will hasten that inevitability.
