When our CEO attempted to set the record straight on the documented history of Metro Pulse that included a notification of registration sent to the infringing Metro Pulse of Knoxville Tennessee in 2015 as the beginning of the story regarding our established in force trademark we were flabbergasted at the blatant ignorance of Wikipedia in response.
Metro Pulse Knoxville was abruptly shuttered with no notice shortly thereafter prior to a purchase of parent Knoxville News Sentinel newspaper by Gannett and as rightful owners of the trademark we acquired the metropulse.com domain directly from them in 2018.
Our initial foray with Wikipedia started off with a snippy volunteer editor that we thought was a bot (and wasn’t) and not a real person (who was) who completely and totally discounted the reality of trademark infringement in our story. The position of Wikipedia, according to him, was trademarks do not reflect ownership and the insinuation was that I needed other proof to argue my position. As owners of much IP that ran counter to what we know is true. The US Patent and Trademark office web site posts as a matter of public record trademark ownership credentials for review.
This democracy has always operated on the ownership of intellectual property as a pillar of economic stability and growth so this warped and woefully ignorant position immediately put off our CEO and the interaction went downhll from there.
We post this article on potentially deceptive and misleading editing by Wikipedia regarding the heinous recent North Carolina murder as a corollary to our situation with Metro Pulse. Currently Wikipedia has also selectively and manipulatively edited our Metro Pulse entry and verbal interactions, so much so it completely fails at telling the true DOCUMENTED story. Anyone wanting to investigate our history can employ research techiques in the public domain to legitimately come to their conclusions. NO USE FOR WIKIPEDIA!!
