We have been familiar with this saga for a long time and even had the honor of meeting one of the survivors in a liquor store once. We knew it was him by his baseball cap proudly showing his US Navy ship name and ID number prominently and we were the only ones in the store who acknowledged him.
Thanked him for his service and can honestly say it brought a smile to his lips as he processed our respect for what he was part of and the impact it had on the end of the war. We also knew what he endured but never mentioned it. What he endured posted Here, truly hell on earth.
