Sykes/Pecoe was the culmination agreement (out of 4) diplomatic jam job of the century that occurred in the 20th Century (1917) when the British solicited the disparate tribes of the region unified under King Hussein to keep the Central Powers (Read Germany , Austria Hungary, Turkey) out of the oil fields in the waning years of WW1. This was necessitated by the Royal Navy converting ftom coal to oil in their battle fleets.
Hussein agreed and lost half a million men in the process as he was promised British support on all levels AFTER the war in a formation of a new government he would head for his cooperation.
But the French put pressure on the British as their ally and fact much of WW1 was fought on French soil so the whore British outright sold out Hussein when French marched in March 1919 to claim when the lying 2 faced Brits had promised Hussein. This prompted a tribal civil war underming Hussein’s coalition that scattered factions and created generational competitions we are are grappling with TO THIS DAY.
