A good friend of the platform and a very creative guy besides an avid movie goer offers this take on Joker 2 which seems to have stalled at the box office recently..

Here’s my take…People in this country did not believe the Joker 2: Folie a Deux movie, was actually musical until the first set of reviews in the states came out a few days before its opening night. The film had opened in France the previous week. Once the rumors were determined to be true, many potential movie-goers stayed home, which is why the box office numbers were much lower than expected from the studio and industry experts.

For those that actually saw the movie, the D CinemaScore certainly didn’t help matters. I myself did see the movie, knowing that it was indeed a hybrid DC movie and musical, and for someone who works in the creative world every day for my job, I for the most part did enjoy the movie. My cinema score for Joker 2 is a B minus.

Yes, the movie had a bit too much singing, even for me who enjoys musicals, loves Lady Gaga and enjoyed the first Joker movie. The writers got away from the storyline and characters, namely the Joker, from the first very successful movie. Fans and critics of the first Joker are now expressing their displeasure for the sequel. That’s often what happens when you don’t give audiences what they’re looking. The character known as the Joker loves surprises and lives by no set rules. Unfortunately for the film’s studio executives, who attempted creatively to live by those same rules, are learning the hard way that audiences hated their choices. In all, a symphony of madness for sure.
