We hail from the Chicago area and as we gaze on our Lake Michigan we think of it’s mass and beauty and realize only 10 to 12,000 years ago it was a monstrous glacier that must have taken hundreds of years to melt.

That being said, you read this in the context of that and realize it is Earth’s “cycles” that have been happening for millions of years. The Incas and Aztecs destroyed by drought long before human interactions could be blamed over a thousand years ago, the 13th century Little Ice Age and so on.
